Cardiovascular risk assessment

A standard cholesterol panel measures how much cholesterol you carry. It does not count how many particles are carrying it, and when those two disagree the second is the more accurate predictor. That disagreement is most common in exactly the metabolic pattern that is common in Malaysia.

Advanced lipid and cardiovascular risk profiling

Standard cholesterol panels miss a great deal. This adds ApoB, lipoprotein(a) and high-sensitivity CRP to the conventional lipid profile, which together describe atherosclerotic risk more precisely than LDL alone. Suited to anyone with a family history of early cardiac events, raised cholesterol on a standard panel, or a metabolic picture that does not match how well they feel.

Blood pressure and vascular assessment

Structured assessment of blood pressure, including out-of-clinic readings where appropriate, alongside markers of vascular and renal involvement. Raised blood pressure is common, silent, and among the most modifiable contributors to long-term risk, which makes it worth measuring properly rather than opportunistically.

Inflammatory and metabolic risk markers

Chronic low-grade inflammation sits behind much of what shortens healthspan. This assesses hs-CRP alongside glycaemic and lipid markers to build a combined picture, and identifies which of the contributing factors are treatable in your case.

Common questions

What does ApoB add to a standard panel?

ApoB counts atherogenic particles directly, one molecule per LDL, VLDL and Lp(a) particle. Where it disagrees with LDL cholesterol, evidence consistently shows ApoB predicting risk more accurately. The 2026 ACC/AHA guideline formally recommends selective measurement.

Should everyone have advanced lipid testing?

No. It adds most for people with raised triglycerides, impaired glucose regulation, a strong family history, established cardiovascular disease, or those already on lipid-lowering treatment. For a straightforward metabolic picture a standard panel usually suffices.

What else is assessed?

Blood pressure including out-of-clinic readings where appropriate, inflammatory markers such as hs-CRP, glycaemic status, and Lp(a), which is largely genetic and worth measuring once in a lifetime.
